Great buy but there were problems.
Just finished installing this. I plugged this in just to make sure it worked before going through the effort to install it. As one reviewer wrote, there was a loud clicking noise when turning it on. The flame illusion did not work. I took the back off and the problem was the bar that held the aluminum, spinning pieces that made the flames was loose from the hole it spins in. It was also bent. After fixing this, it worked fine. It appeared as if someone had tried to install this unit but returned. Some of the screws did not match. One set of holes to screw the glass front to the unit was bent. All signs someone attempted installation but bent the holes. I am a DIYer and know the signs well because I have messed up a few installs myself and lost or stripped quite a few screws. Gave the install piece of this one star. Gave four stars overall only because I was able to correct the problems. If not, I would give zero stars as the unit was not functional until I fixed it.Even with all the issues, this was a great buy compared with other similar sized units. We have this in our basement/entertainment area and it gives it that WOW factor.

Perfect! I mounted it on the wall (just needed 2 brackets). Love the different bed colors and flame colors! Works perfectly! Family loves having it on and just watching the flames. Makes a great focal point in the room. Haven't used the heat yet, but will once fall/winter comes back. Arrived packaged well and perfectly safe. Great buy!

Good experience.
Installation measurements needed prior to purchase. Clearance for front cover important as I have a stone surround. If the tolerances are tight, it will be difficult if not impossible to service. The mounting holes are covered by the front bezel. If you can't remove it, you cant pull the unit off the wall.

Don’t buy it
The size is perfect. However, the remote has 2 buttons that do not work. And the instruction guide doesn’t even list them. The flame on the back panel is barely noticeable. As you can see in the picture. Very irritating, because it took forever to build the exact dimensions on the wall for the insert to fit and now I have a glorified night light with crystals and not even a flame. Very displeased!

Nice insert
Overall great insert. The colors available are awesome. The only issue is the remote doesn't respond/work too well. Even after changing the batteries still the same issue. I still highly recommend this insert.

Damaged in box
The fireplace was damaged in the box and I didn’t open the box till it was too late to exchange or return it so now we have a fireplace that won’t light up on the entire left side
