Fit my Chinese 16 lb jackhammer perfectly.
I just bought a 'lightweight' electric jackhammer because my old heavy unit is too much for my shoulders these days (I'm 75). I was worried that this smaller spade would cut too slow, compared with my 1-1/8 shank spade for my BIG machine, but it cut just as fast, if not faster. This is my first foray into tools that accept SDS-Max shanks and I was worried about the fit due to some reviews here. No such problem. Smooth fit.Very Pleased. Would recommend.

Used with Bosch RH540M
I had to dig a trench 120 feet and in some places it was over 5 ft deep and I began to hit boulders.I called a local and asked him if a skid steer and a jack attachment would break them up.I was told, you have to dig them out, it would be a waste of time to try and break them up.Challenge accepted.I used the a Bosch RH540M 1-9/16 Inch SDS-Max Combination Rotary Hammer with 5/8 inch and 3/4 Hammer Bit drilled into the boulders and then I split them with some 3/4 Feather and Wedges, those thing are amazing.I also used the Bosch Clay Spade and Chisel Set on the impacted clay.It took about two weeks and it was a lot of work but the drill, bits and spade never let me down and I got the job done and saved a bunch of money not hiring someone with heavy equipment to remove the stones.

Very Hardened steel
I use this to dig a 30 inch trench 15 foot long for underground piping and it was all rock. I never changedthe bit because you can use it as a chisel can use it to pry and dig. It’s still like new Well worth the money don’t even consider other brands.

Short, but still good
I purchased this tool to dig 7 post holes for 4x4 post. A power auger was useless. It just scraps the hard clay soil. This tool mounted on an 18 ft.lb. demolition hammer cuts through the hard clay soil with ease. A hole post digger is still needed to get the dirt out though. The curved spoon shape chisel helps preventthe the blade from being wedge in the hard soil. I had a hard time pulling out a pointed chisel at only 10 inches deep. This chisel comes out easily even at 12 inches deep. Although there are many to choose from, not all SDS-max clay spades have this spoon shape. So, be mindful of this characteristic when choosing. The bad thing is that this chisel is only 15.5 inch overall length, not 17 inch as specified. When I called Bosch technical help, they said 17 inch is the old specification. They redesigned the tool. It is now 15.5 inches. They are working on correcting the description error. I was surprised at that answer coming from a German company like Bosch. If a design change caused it to be shorter by 10%, it really shouldhave a different part number.Trying to dig a 24 inch deep hole, this tool will not get you all the way there.I had to use an 18 in. x 1 in. chisel to finish off each hole. As a result, it took a little more time and effort.Although it is shorter than specified, I would still recommend this tool. If this tool was a 20 inch, it would be perfect.I'm sure there are many other methods and tools to dig a post hole in hard clay soil. This one happens to work very well for me.

So much better than the HD $20 version!
Holy cow this thing is awesome!our old one: We purchased a smaller version at HD for $20 last year when we had to remove a 5x8 space of tile for a pantry. My husband's back was killing him from bending over in practically a hunched kneel and the project took him 3 days of backbreaking labor. And it made so much dust! the cement glue stuff didn't come off at all and the cement was left uneven with many dings left in it. It was horrible. The blade was more like a dull thick piece of metal and the handle was only about 5 inches. The new one: We used the 6x12 inch scraper that we bought from amazon the day we received it. We had to remove 6 1 foot tiles to expand our kitchen cabinets. I half way expected the tile scraper to be as big as a pain and mess as our previous one, but thankfully, I was wrong. In about 10 minutes or less me husband was done. The tile pieces came out with no real effort and the "tile grout glue" was easily removed and the cement was left smooth. My husband was so thrilled that he removed even more tiles, mainly to see how long it would take to do a 5x8 space as to compare to our previous experience. He was done in less than 20 minutes with the whole project, and his back didn't hurt at all! It is wonderful that the blade part is sharper and wider, leaves a cleaner "cut" on the cement. The handle is very long as well so you do not have to bend over awkwardly. There was little dust as well because the pieces came off in pieces and not dusty shards. We plan to redo our tile in the next few months, and I was worried that the project would make living in our home unbearable based off of the first tile removing experience that we had- we were planning on at least 1 month just removing the tile and dust everywhere; I was considering temporarily moving in with my parents while my husband worked on the project! Now with our new tool, however, I know that the project wont be so horrible and the removing process will be greatly reduced.Thank you for making such an wonderful product.
