InSinkEratorBadger 5 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, Standard Series 1/2 HP Continuous Feed Food Waste Disposer, Badger 5 W/C, No Size, Black/Gray

My garbage disposal (InSinkErator Badger 1, 1/3hwp, 7 years old) started leaking this weekend and after watching some you tube videos, I discovered the issue was corrosion and cracks on the bottom plate of the disposal. I was hoping I could fix it with JB Weld and seal it, however once getting it apart and to the issue, the corrosion was much worse than the ones from the videos and even after extensive cleaning, it was still really disgusting.So, I replaced it with this InSinkErator Badger 5, 1/2hwp for a little more power. Same day delivery and it was a very quick and simple process! Since I already had the old one off, and the bracket attached to the sink was the same, it took less than 10 minutes to install the new one and hook it up. I have no prior experience with this, and this was my first attempt at anything plumbing, so it really is "Easy Installation"!While having the old one off, I also took off all of the other pipes and cleaned them out as well, as they were really gross and grimey. I am so glad this process was much easier than I expected and was able save a lot of money by doing it myself!IMPORTANT: Remember to remove the dishwasher knockout plug before installing, if you have a dishwasher, otherwise, it is blocked and water will be everywhere!I highly recommend this product and brand. Excellent quality, easy to replace and Made in the USA!

I have told everyone I know that this is the only way I’ll ever buy a garbage disposal. First off cheaper the the two big hardware stores and second the cord is included so no need to wire anything. Money saver and convenient! The nose level is as expected it’s not loud. The size was perfect for my family (3) with normal waste. I like How solid it is. It also has great power. I put A whole carrot down the drain and no issues. 2 person job near the end due to fixing the disposal into place. But super easy.

Straightforward installation. I was able to leave the top portion of the existing disposal attached to my sink, and just twist off the bottom unit that had failed. This made the installation faster/easier. The only difficult part was that my previous disposal was a direct wire power connection to a junction box, and this one is a plug-in style. I had to convert the junction box to an outlet plug, and then plug this one in. Not a big deal, but required a trip to the hardware store, since I had not examined the original installation closely enough.

Replaced a “leaking from the bottom” Badger 5 garbage disposal of unknown age. Rusty on the inside, so I’m thinking 7-10 years. Ordered the same make and model and it arrived the next day, saving a trip to the hardware store. Saved about $10 and just put a bucket under the old unit until the new one arrived. It wasn’t leaking bad enough to rush about and get one. (it was hot out). Delivered around 2 and was done with the install in about 30 minutes. It just fit right on the existing under sink mount. Really only needed a screwdriver for hose clamp for dishwasher and it’s knockout. Have paper down for a day to insure no leaks before we put everything back. Works great. Nice and quiet.

The latest units have a down facing tab on the LOWER mounting ring that fits into a slot on the disposal. This is so the lower mounting ring won't turn on it's own. You must lift and mount by turning the whole unit with both hands and tighten with tool provided. After the lower mounting ring is locked. the tab pulls up allowing you to turn the whole disposal to align it properly. I also found the measurement between the sink and the drain center is more like 7 inches, not 6 inches as shown in the diagram. Look at pictures 2 and 6 closely to see these features.

Bought to replace existing Insinkerator Badger 5 1/2 hp waste disposal after many, many years. (The water quality of water in the SE suburbs of PHX is horrific compared to my home state of WI…did I mention Insinkerator is HQ’d in Wisconsin?) As always, outstanding quality with built in the USA pride. Easy installation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Insinkerator is reliable and has been around for years. Only brand I considered. Installation was quick and easy and done by my son in law.

Easy swap. This is the second I've done. Make sure to get with a power cord or hard wired based on what you have. It all just spins off.
