Useful book on how to harness your attention for maximum productivity and wellbeing
My biggest takeaway from reading Hyperfocus is to return to thinking.I’ve been gradually despising how much tech has invaded my life through my phone and over the past few months, I’ve been slowly edging my way to tech freedom during the day - practicing habits like leaving my phone out of sight when it’s not in use to avoid the temptation of idle checking.Hyperfocus has given me a whole new determination - and tools - to make this work. The book gives both theory and practical suggestions on how to harness your attention and turn your focus into a superpower for your productivity and overall mental wellbeing - and that includes carving out regular idle (and intentional) thinking time in your schedule. If you’re someone who’s enjoyed productivity books like Atomic Habits, The 5am Miracle etc, you’ll also like this book. Either way, it’s well worth a read.

A must read!
I work from home and often find myself distracted/interrupted by the ever growing technology that surrounds me, family members around the house and internal thoughts to name a few. This book does a wonderful job at introducing you to key physiological subjects and gives a number of suggestions on how you can tame your demons and control your attention, and thus your focus. It includes quantifiable facts, to tell a more compelling story and is written in simple language, to help communicate a complex topic. I think it’s well worth the read and even more so, in the tech evolution that we are currently experiencing.

Good ideas, but...
For a book about retaining focus, there is a shocking amount of in-page distractions, such as footnotes and side blocks, that you just can't get focused on the book itself. Bit of an ironic oversight.

Excellent Read
Was deeply enthralled with the insights given with regard to attention, attentional space and having my mind opened up to the positivities of scatterfocus. I have already started applying some of the basic techniques which apply to me in my own line own, eliminating distractions, reducing interruptions from my phone and so on. Highly recommended. Great read.

Useful Book - Compliments Other Productivity Books Well
I should preface this with the fact that I have probably read more productivity books than most people, so this may be a bit skewed.I found this book really interesting to read, the author has clearly conducted extensive research to bring many of the concepts to the page. Some instantly actionable pieces of advice are scattered throughout the book. I found the concept of deliberately allowing your mind to wander to solve problems creatively very interesting.I didn’t quite find this book as revolutionary or captivating as other books (like Atomic Habits), hence the four stars. It is absolutely worth a read though for all readers. Will be one I would like to revisit in more depth again soon.
