Okay for the Money
Diecast aircraft have dramatically increased in price over the last five years. A similar model to this from Hobbymaster or Corgi will cost more than double the £34 I paid for this one. It's actually surprisingly good for the money. The aircraft is well detailed, right down to the tiny steps for the crew to alight. The paint job is excellent and the decals are good quality and applied well - though not tampo printed, as better quality models are. The swastika markings for the tail are absent, in deference to avoiding controversy in some markets.Money has been saved on the thin cardboard of the box. Mine was subsequently a bit squashed - though the plastic inner had kept the model safe. The packaging is very nicely printed though, with an illustration of the aircraft and information about it and it's most famous pilot on the reverse. The model is surprisingly light, with a higher proportion of plastic than diecast metal - but, this does help with the fit of the parts and the detail included. Two small screwheads under the fuselage have been left exposed. Most annoyingly, a large box structure has been stuck to the underside of the fuselage, for the sturdy included metal base to fit into. This rather spoils the otherwise excellent lines of the model. On balance, I'm pretty happy with it.
