No reason not to have 1! Since being introduced in 2005 they have lowered exsanguination deaths 85%
Teriffic Tourniquets now even better! If I could give more stars I would. Our military chose and introduced this as THE combat Tourniquet in 2005 and every solider was and still is issued/carries at least 1 of and medics began carrying in their med kits since then exsanguination deaths have dropped an amazing 85%! So drastically in fact that stateside paramedics and even police officers and I myself carry these proven Tourniquets EVERYDAY. Belt holsters (also available on Amazon $20+) have made the ability to quickly locate and use as well as daily carry a non issue. The new gray tips windlass is reinforced as are other parts and have a few slight differences including making the original Tourniquets need (or so says the company) for running the end thru the buckle a non issue, and decreasing the amount of time needed to stop a severe hemorrhage. I have these and the original CATs in all my med bags and IFAKS as you can't go wrong with them. I don't only have CATs but SOFTTs, RATS, SWAT TOURNIQUETS, and K&M?? Tourniquets and have tried them all finding pros and cons to each and I don't believe any of them are 'THE PERFECT' Tourniquet although I find the CATs a solid addition to my med kits especially with the newer design. I work in construction and have seen a lot of accidents with saws and fingers or legs so for my own EDC I carry both a CAT and RAT in my pockets and more CAT and the other types I mentioned in my med kits. I carry the RAT type as its amazingly fast to apply even one handed. The CAT is also one hand applyable but takes slightly more time due to the strap adjustments BUT it does a better job stopping hommorage compleatly with its windlass design and the way it's easier to adjust the tightness WITHOUT it removing pressure before the strap is also been proven better than the RAT but MAINLY due to its being applied wrong yet even applied wrong (applied by a average citizen with no first aid or medical training it is very simple and obvious how to use it IF you have it kept correctly prior to their using it) the obvious ease and speed it requires to apply has made it my choice as a first Tourniquet to apply especially if it's me that needs it as again it's self explanatory and I've found it will work well enough even if not setup right and in any way I can apply it. Many medics, Drs, and myself agree a second tourniquet in your bag is a must as even a CAT may need to be adjusted after applying and though it doesn't require a full release to adjust it even letting up on a bleeder that's slowed and beginning to clot it may allow it to start bleeding faster when adjusted.. SO in comes the second tourniquet besides it being there if you have multiple victims or someone requiring multiple Tourniquets due to multiple limb losses, gun shots, or stabbings a second Tourniquet allows you to quickly apply one to stop as much bleeding as possible and if necessary a second Tourniquet can be added above the first. Back to my choice in EDC Tourniquets I find the RAT perfect for fast application so you can stop at least most of not all bleeding and take other life saving actions necessary then if still bleeding a CAT or another CAT can be applied 2" above the RAT or first CAT cinch it down tighter and ALWAYS MARK THE TIME this is important for the Drs at the hospital to decide what they can or can't do depending on the time your appendage is without blood circulation.

real NAR tournqiuet.
What can i say? This CAT-T Tourniquet is not a knockoff and came with the proper markings as well as verification that its from NAR i haven't had to use this at all in the span of a few years but the tourniquet will start to fray even after a few years it will probably not affect staunching hemorrhaging overall this was worth the money and is really easy to use especially in one hand application if need be

Hope to Never Use It!!
This is one of those things that you buy and then pray you never have to use it! But, it's far better to have one and not need it than to not have one and desperately need it. A tourniquet will save a life, absolutely. This tourniquet is affordable, it's light and it's compact, so there's really no excuse for not having one. There are several recent studies which have updated the guidelines for when and where to use a tourniquet. I strongly recommend reviewing the most current information related to usage. Improper use can cause more harm than good. I also strongly urge practicing using the device in a non-emergency situation so you are familiar with how it operates and aren't trying to figure it out in a critical life or death situation. Every First Aid Kit (FAK) should have a tourniquet.
