Britax RömerCAR SEAT SAVER
E**.
Not as per the picture - don't be misled.
I've just bought two of these as we have a car sick toddler in an ERF seat and a baby on the way. Really disappointed as from the picture it looks like the seat cover covers the seat completely whereas it actually is much shorter and only reaches halfway along the car seat base leaving the fabric on the original seat exposed. The width is also inadequate for the range of toddler feet. It's also very difficult to attach a mirror to the headrest as this is completely covered with no holes to thread the mirror through (have tried the 2 different ones we have) so these will need to be cut, damaging the seat cover. Unfortunately this time of year (Christmas) means that the Post Offices are really busy and standing for a long time in a queue isn't an option at 39 weeks pregnant otherwise these would be returned.

Falling Short
The Britax Romer Car Seat Saver doesn’t match the one in the first picture but does match the second picture (which shows a rear facing car seat with a mesh pocket). What is confusing is the first picture seems to match the back of the product but you’d need to turn the headrest cover part inside out which then doesn’t match it.It can however be used with a forward facing seat too by either slipping it onto the headrest of the back seat so the car seat is sitting on top of it or slipped onto the headrest of the passenger/drivers seat which will protect the front seats from muddy shoes/crumbs and toys dropping into the footwell. There are two mesh pockets (side by side) with Velcro closures which is handy for storing toys etc in although my LO now sees it as a challenge to try and grab whatever is in there before he’s strapped in (he can’t reach while buckled in). It’s secured by the headrest – just hook it over but it’s very wide so you need to try and fold it in on itself so it doesn’t block the view out the back window. It’s just not long enough though whether it’s on the front or the back – it doesn’t completely cover the seat which is ok if you just want to use it as a caddy but there are better ones out there for that. This just doesn’t live up to expectation unfortunately.

Unpadded seat protector that is too short
Having road tested a few seat protectors with our two messy children, I am rather disappointed in this Britax seat saver. It seems to be trying to offer many options, but falls short overall. On the plus side, it is one of the wider seat protectors, so offers some protection against spillages at the side of the seat. There is also a sizeable flap of material covering the ISOFIX slits, helping to reduce the risk of leakage through to the seat. There is a small, but useful, storage pocket accessible if you use a rear facing baby seat. However, the cover is far too short, so doesn't protect the front of the seat (see photo). The mode of fitting requires the headrest to be raised, a pity if you have rear headrests that can otherwise be lowered flush. This is not a padded cover, so won't, for example, protect leather seats from indents.

Disappointing from a normally reliable brand
With our young kids we’ve had a couple of other Britax products in the past, including a car seat, and we’ve always been happy with the quality and design of them. This car seat cover, however, is a let-down for a variety of reasons.I agree with the other reviewer who says that some of the product photos are misleading. If using it underneath a car seat, rather than hanging off the seat in front, then the bottom of the seat is not long enough to reach the edge of our car seat, let alone hang off it. If you’re using it with an ISOFIX seat then you can’t just pull it down to compensate, so essentially you’re leaving some of your car seat exposed to scuffy feet and food spills, which is presumably what this “car seat cover” is supposed to help you avoid. If used as a car seat organiser, hanging off the back of the front seat, then the strap that goes around the front seat to hold it in place is barely long enough in our (normal, relatively small) car. The mesh pockets are basic and there aren’t enough of them. Maybe if you’ve got a very small child and you just want a handy place to keep some baby wipes, it’s fine, but for slightly older kids who want to store all their travel toys in it, it’s not enough. You can get similar products if you look for ‘car seat organiser’ which will give you a lot more pockets and be more versatile. Also the ‘Britax’ branding on this product is *far* too bold. It’s printed in very large letters on both sides of the headrest section, so regardless of which way you’re using it, it’s very very visible both forwards and backwards. I understand products need to be branded but this branding is over-the-top. Coupled with the fact that it hangs loosely over the headrest, making it a little bit annoying to the front seat passenger whenever they want to put their head back, it quickly becomes an irritant. On paper this product is a good idea, and details like the fact it allows for ISOFIX fittings should be a definite plus. The manufacturing quality is OK, certainly nothing special, with a bit of a tent-like roughness to it, but design-wise it may have two potential usage methods but neither of them well worked for us at all.

Easy to fit, no buckles or straps
This car seat saver has a different design than some covers - it slips over the car head rest so it doesn’t need clips or buckles to secure it around the headrest posts. It also has pockets so, if you are using a rear-facing seat, small items can be stored in the pockets such as wipes and nappies. If you are using a forward-facing seat, the protector is underneath the seat, so the pockets can’t be used, but instead, the protector will stop the back of the car seat from marking the fabric or leather of the car backrest. It isn’t particularly padded like my other car seat protector, but the fabric is still a tough, non-snag material that will give protection to the car seat.4 stars.

Too small
I was a little disappointed with this item. Wasn't big enough really and when using the front facing chair you can't use the storage pockets.
