Pleasantly surprised by how great this laptop is!
Wasn't my first choice of laptop, but absolutely blown away with how efficient and ergonomic it is. Everything I could want in a laptop, so so pleased! Great battery life, quiet, keeps cool, super light and sleek, uncluttered desktop. Love it!

I really wanted to like this laptop....
As I said, I really wanted to. It's beautifully designed and every aspect of the build speaks of quality. Unfortunately, the performance speaks of circa 2012. My 2017 XPS 15 currently benchmarks at 43%. This benchmarked at 28% out of the box. When the fan's not on (unsurprisingly) it's silent. When the fan's on, however (which it almost always seems to be) turn the tunes up to 11. Booting up seems to be sufficient to cause subsequent CPU throttling. Nothing wrong with this individual machine, just unbelievably underpowered, even for light use. Sadly returning what I hoped would be my laptop for years to come.

Loud, heavy, and a bad battery.
This laptop's fans are excessively loud, and this is incredibly annoying. The true battery life was under 5hrs, which makes it insufficient for essay writing etc. without a power bank or socket. The item was advertised as 0.7kg, but in fact weighs nearly 1.2kg. This was why I purchased this laptop over an alternative, and so I was very disappointed. The setup was relatively straightforward, though this did still take several hours as the software delivered on the device was so outdated.Overall, quite disappointed.

Build quality is not reflective of the price
I know my review may seem petty at first, but dell markets their xps line as a premium laptop. I must say i haven't been impressed with it so far, firstly the build quality is sub par compared to the likes of apples MacBook. with my laptops screen not closing seamlessly and one the the screws on the bottom of my laptop being rounded; but most importantly the base casing of the laptop appears to be bulging where the battery normally is, making me believe the battery is already expanding not even a month of use. To charge prices of over £1000 for a laptop with the same build quality of a budget laptop is egregious.Secondly the performance of the laptop isn't worth the price either, everytime i open my laptop it takes ages to boot up even if i haven't shut it down, the load time of opening apps and webpages is also slow. I am appalled as someone who came from a late 2015 MacBook pro i can confidently say the dells xps 13 was not the upgrade i wanted, with a worse build quality and performance comparable to my old MacBook the dell xps line is not worth your money.
