Yes these are better than your average trimmers in my opinion, you can also adjust these trimmers to make the proper cut for thick and buzz cuts. Great product IMO.

yes as you can zero gap the blade

The problem was that the product was being produced and released before the actual start of manufacturing of replacement parts. You should be good now.
