We bought these mainly for our smoke alarms but they're good for all items needing a 9V battery. They're easy to remove and they're a good value for the price.

The YKM 9V is a set of four carbon-zinc batteries typically used in devices like smoke detectors, certain toys, and even guitar effect pedals. However, they’re most commonly used for home smoke detectors, which is what I’ll focus on from my own experience.For a smoke detector, reliable power is crucial—firstly because it needs to function continuously, and secondly, no one wants to be woken up at 3 a.m., frantically searching for a replacement when it starts beeping to signal a low battery.As my father always says, “Better to have extra than not enough!” This phrase fits these batteries perfectly, as their price is about half that of similar ones from a popular brand. Technically, you're getting double the amount for the same price, but isn’t that essentially the same thing?Anyway, I installed them in my smoke detector a few months back, and the "extras" are now stored with my tools as spares. The manufacturer claims they’ll last up to 7 years in storage, though I have my doubts about that, and I suspect no one will ever truly verify it from personal experience.Everything’s working perfectly, and I have no complaints. My one caveat is that these might not be the best fit for high-drain devices like remote-controlled toys or guitar pedals. But for home use, they’re a solid choice—I’ve tested them myself!

Use for household purposes

When it comes to buying bulk batteries for smoke detectors, I recommend these batteries. They may not be the best for high-performance devices. But they work well for the lowley, faithful smoke detectors.

These batteries are junk! Didn’t open them right away, but once I did, they didn’t work. I was even using it and a smoke detector to boot. So I have 23 batteries that are useless to me. How do you report them? Is you can’t file anything very links? Amazon is actually letting them get away with this? Maybe I should just start shopping at those stores in my area and paying the higher price for something that actually works and if not, I can return them and get my money back!
