Marathon Grass Seed Can, 1 lb

I'm a novice at growing grass. My grass was dug up due to construction work to add some pipes to the main sewage line. The gardener was charging 300 to install sod, but I didnt want to spend the money. This can only cost 10 dollars so I thought I'd give it a try first.I didn't quite follow the directions on the can. I watered the soil, sprinkled the seeds liberally, and stepped on the seeds to embed them into the soil. The next day, I added organic fertilizer granules on top. The local store didn't have organic dirt fertilizer in a small bag so I had to buy a small bag of the granules, the kind used for tomatoes and herbs. After 2 weeks, the grass seems to be growing quite well.I also used it on another section that was dug up and it is not growing quite as well, but I do see growth. In this particular area, I didn't step on the seeds so they layed on top of the soil. I think in order for the seeds to germinate, they have to be in contact with a source that will stay wet, otherwise the sun will dry them out.

This seed is crap, borderline scam, for how full of poa annual weed grass it it. For those of you who don't know, poa annua is a single season shallow root grass that will grow and take over your yard, and then die after dropping seeds, not only making sure that it will propagate itself but also look really bad while it's growing (light green and tangled) but after it dies off.My story is that I over-seeded this fall to repair some shade-related grass death. My sod was Marathon, so I bought more marathon seed.Two years ago I did this and suddenly got a ton of Poa Annua. Picked it by hand, didn't think about it.Last year didn't reseed.This year, reseeding again, but concentrating on certain bare spots - just get TONS of poa exactly in the sports I redeeded - it's hard to tell, but in the photo below the main point of focus us just 90% poa.I have spent hours picking poa out of my lawn by hand but it's going to be a weed that is now permanently in my lawn forever. DO NOT BUY.

I've bought this same grass seed from Ebay and it never came up. Same watering cycle, same weather, and no growth. Planted this a few days ago and it's filling in the bare spots already. Follow the watering instruction exactly

Buy top soil add the seeds and it grows. Had a gardner seed part of my yard with Marathon seed and its the only grass that would grow. Bought a second can for filling some bare spots. It works!

Grew quick and beautifully. My lawn was perfect until I made the mistake of adding a turf and weed product. I will stick with using only Milorganite for now on!

Great grass seed. It filled in some areas that were bare nicely.
