Fantastic Sound!!

This is one of the best pedals, I have purchased in years!! Built like a tank and Beautiful!! Tones all of the way from warm to a cranked Marshall. So far, I have just gone to my mixer and into my Powered Bose. Sounds Fantastic. If you are looking for a great sound and a great price, pick one up today. You won't be disappointed.

I use this for many things, with more to try. So much flexibility and time savings.

The Joyo Orthros Selector pedal is handy for so many things. Easy to set up, I don't hear any added noise, and the volume controls are so helpful. I use it to switch between 2 or 3 guitars into 1 amp, or to switch in or out loops of other effects pedals, or (very cool) to run different effects in parallel. Haven't tried running 1 guitar into two amps yet, can also see sending one output into my audio interface and other(s) to my amp(s) to record a clean signal direct while recording amp output with a mic (zero latency while playing and lots of mixing/reamping/effects options later in my DAW). Pedal is constructed well, looks nice. I wish it could be smaller but six guitar cables, power cable, 3 knobs and a foot switch need some real estate. I even enjoyed learning about the mythology of "Orthros" on the web.

Sounds great! But does have some minor issues.

Well, the value for the money is there. You can dial in plenty of lush sounding huge reverb or dial it back for a really nice subtle spring or plate effect, so it’s quite versatile. It immediately replaced the mini-universe (over hyped and very poorly designed) on my board and I prefer it over my vintage Holy Grail as well. All of the settings serve their intended purpose aside from the Reverse, which really just seems like a swell more than anything. The trail effect is also extremely nice. Build quality is solid, as are all the Joyo pedals in this design. Now for some minor complaints: There’s a hiss, even when the pedal is not engaged. It’s a VERY faint hiss, and barely noticeable even at higher volumes, but it is there. The worst thing about this is that the pedal is perfectly silent bypass - until you first turn the effect on and then even when you turn the effect off, the hiss will remain until the unit is entirely powered down (unplugged). The flashing of the LEDs anytime you tweak a knob is pretty annoying. The pedal expects you to save your preset anytime you want to make any tiny adjustment at all. It will not stop blinking until you do re-save it. Not an intuitive feature and really unnecessary altogether. This also means that anytime you switch to the reverb you want to use in the moment, you are going to be loading the previous preset you had saved, no matter where the knobs are set. I’m all for having presets available, but this was just a poor way to implement the feature.Anyway, it was worth the $85 and is definitely going to get plenty of use. If the above issues aren’t a deal breaker (they aren’t for me) then I’d definitely recommend it. It was this or the Joyo Atmosphere and I chose this because it seemed to be a bit of an upgrade.

It roars!

If you’re looking for mind-boggling distortion, look no further. This pedal positively roars. It gives you several tone-shaping options. The filter knob is critical to finding the sound you want. The pedal construction is metal and it feels solid. This is a viable alternative to a certain rodent-named pedal for half the price.

Sound and build quality are great; pedal name is brilliant

Really nice pedal with lots of options to compliment different guitar/amp combos. Covers all your RATty needs at a great price.

Dual channel pedal workes well.

Well-made solid chassis. The series linkable channels add extra gain for more distortion, but excessive gain adds hiss. The diode switches drop the amplitude when engaged. The level is not compensated for this change and can get loud when switched off, but they probably won't be adjusted mid-song.

No nuance. At all.

TL;DR-Great sounding ambient tones-But it's just too much; it lacks versatility with other modes like spring and plate-Instructions are very lackingATTACHED PHOTO-An image of the instruction manualTHE REVIEWThis is not a bad pedal for ambient sounds, which is what I bought it for. However, it would also be nice if the other traditional reverbs were usable. They are not ... at least for me. Here are my issues with the pedal ...IT LACKS NUANCE-With the decay and mix turned as low as they will go, the echo continues on for a few seconds. It's just too much, even on settings such as room or spring. There are sometimes when you just want about a second or less of reverb, and with this pedal, it's extremely difficult to dial in these settings. Unless I have a broken pedal, when I turn the mix and decay down to 0, there is no reverb at all, and you have to turn it up about 10 percent before you finally start hearing reverb. The problem is, by this point, you're already pretty heavy into the mix. There's just no subtlety or nuance.INSTRUCTIONS (or lack thereof)-This device is not intuitive. The default behavior of this pedal is to save the last setting you used on each mode. For example, if you use shimmer with the mix and decay turned up, then switch to room and turn down those settings, the pedal will remember your last settings and use those -- even though the knobs will show that you have these settings turned down. And I get that this feature may be useful in certain situations, but it's certainly not useful all the time. Another issue with this is that as soon as you move any knob after swapping modes, the lights will annoyingly flash quickly, and can only be stopped by long-pressing on the right pedal. There is a manual, but it's only 2 pages and while it lists features, it doesn't show how to use those. It lists features like trail mode on/off, preset mode, etc., but it's trial and error to figure out, and as I mentioned earlier, this is not an intuitive pedal, and I've owned over 200 different pedals, so I'm not a novice. It would be nice if I could turn off the memory feature. It can sometimes be confusing to look at the knobs in one position but to hear something entirely different.OHTER ISSUES-I'm also encountering an intermittent issue where the pedal will power up and immediately power back down. I sometimes have to plug it out and back in several times, but so far -- knock on wood -- it has always come on eventually.-Like with other Joyo pedals, it's very difficult to read the text on the pedals in certain lighting. I also own the Joyo Vision and it's the same way.And now, for the positive. ...AMBIENT REVERBS ARE NICE-I'm not a huge fan of the shimmer on this one. It has a very synthetic sound and is a bit harsh, even with the highs turned down. It's not bad, but I much prefer the shimmer on my RV-6 and my Polara. However, I do like the Reverse and Dream modes. The plate reverb is nice, though I do wish it were a little more subtle on the lower settings. Some of these modes just tend to slap you in the face with reverb.OTHER COOL STUFF-Another nice thing is that you are able to turn the mix up all the way so that your initial guitar sound is muted and all you hear is the effect. This is great for ambient swells.-I also like the looks of the pedal and the lights in front and back. They give it a nice, modern look, and if you like LEDs -- like I do -- it's a nice aesthetic touch.FOUR-STARS INSTEAS OF THREE?Overall, I struggled with the star rating on this. If all you want is an ambient reverb that whacks you over the head with those sounds, then consider this a four-star pedalHowever, if, like me, you are looking for something a bit more versatile that, in addition to lush ambient tones, also provides very utilitarian types of gigging reverbs like plate and spring, then stick with the three-star review.
