Amazing travel portable projector 10/10

Very good projector, I feel upgrade from my previous portable projector. HDR good and built in google tv helpful clean interface. Defo recommend to buy one. You can even use it outside as its rechargeable. Very portable can be put into a backpack. Max I blew up to 120inch I know it can do 200inch which is cool. And has 700 lumes so it’s nice and bright. Xgimi excellent projector and there customer services on point always here to help online chat and email for any questions. So what you waiting for go and get one.

Great picture quality and sound quality

The media could not be loaded. Well, here I am writing this review after two months of use. Very easy to set up. Open your Google and just say set up my device. Weight is about the same as the MacBook Pro 2017, which makes it easy to carry. Battery life is not so great; it lasts two hours, easy, just enough to watch one movie. Image and sound quality are great, as you can see in pictures. Daytime you want your blinds down for a brighter picture.

So far, so good!

I bought this after doing some research into potable projectors. I was originally looking at the Samsung but this seemed to have the edge in the price range. Its still fairly new but so far, it seems to be very good. The only niggle is that the Apps available are very limited. No BBC iPlayer or C4 and ITV player won't run which is a shame. But it does have Kodi. On that basis, I've marked it down one star. But its a small thing. I'll just use it with a Firestick. The build quality is good, the picture seems very good and the sound quality is also good.So overall, I would recommend it.

Brilliant Small Projector For Camping

The media could not be loaded. Well what can I say I bought this to replace an acer c250i (300 ANSI lumen) that I have had for a few years, was a little disappointed as I had to wait until it was almost pitch black to get any sort off watchable image, this one I can watch a lot earlier in the evening, I am using an ecoflow rivermax 2 to keep this thing going along with a fridge and phones etc although you get over 2 hours on the battery using normal settings. The speaker is surprisingly good and all you would need for a tent or average sized room. The projector pulls around 70 watts when plugged in, what I do is have it fully charged then drain it until I get the battery warning then plug it in and fully charge it so I get a full night's worth of viewing, I woke up this morning and there was still 44% left in the ecoflow charger so this is very energy efficient for what it is. It is brighter when plugged in and dimms a bit when on battery power but this is still fine, the video I have uploaded is with the lead pulled out and it's completely dark in the tent, the screen it's being projected onto is 82 inches and it almost filled the screen, excuse the screen moving it was quite windy outside and the tent was moving a bit.

Almost the perfect projector let down by lack of key app compatibility (iPlayer, Netflix, NowTV)

Wow! This was ALMOST the perfect projector for my needs and I SO wanted it to work out but sadly fell short on a couple of key requirements for me prompting me to have to return it.What I was looking for was a small, discrete smart projector that give a BIG image in my living room for when I wanted big screen movie or sports night (and the occasional game) but move to other rooms and/or still tuck away into a corner and leave there without it looking intrusive or having cables all over the place and in this respect, the XGIMI Halo+ absolutely fits the bill. The device itself is pretty small (about the size of a half loaf of bread) and given the diminutive size of the device, it comfortably projects a 120" image from less than 3m (10ft) away. Setup was a breeze once connected to the internet and all needs to be done with the remote which is a bit basic but functional. All the important options were easily available right off the bat to dial it in to whatever you need though and navigation is pretty clean, intuitive and easy to get around. The auto keystone correction and auto-focus in particular worked like a charm against my screen and definitely put a smile on my face how effortless it was although I did notice that it did tend to slowly lose focus on occasion forcing it to refocus itself but this was all automatic and didn't disrupt the viewing experience too much. The picture felt bigger and more engaging than my old dedicated home Epson Home Cinema projector which was definitely no slouch. In normal ambient light, it does a reasonable enough job but the brighter the room, the more washed out the image though that has to be accepted with most any projector. In my case, I was projecting against a 100" screen which is in front of the main windows so cuts light out quite considerably but it was still decent enough to see what was going . In a fully darkened room, the naturally image is much better and more inline with what you'd expect. Unplugged, you can get about 1.5-2h out of it depending on your content but brightness goes way down unless you override it using custom settings manually which is understandable if not entirely convenient.Brightness wise, it couldn't compare to a/my traditional full size projector but I went in knowing that and considering the size and the flexibility of the device, the full HD picture was still mighty impressive. Truth be told, I feel if it were about 20-25% brighter, I think it would been perfect and the bigger XGIMI Horizon Pro would no doubt cover that but it is physically bigger and less portable (no battery) so there is a trade off until miniaturisation and the tech catches up.That leads me on to apps and software and sadly this is where it fell down for me. Some apps like Amazon Prime, YouTube, AppleTV, Disney+, TED and a handful of US sports apps like ESPN, DAZN et al all work great and as well with any smart TV. They all fire up quickly and easily, picture quality is really good and all in work as expected. Unfortunately, key apps like Netflix doesn't work and key regional apps like BBC iPlayer and NowTV aren't directly available from the Google Play Store. Now I know this is somewhat due to licensing issues and there are software workarounds available actually included in the box) but it's just a shame that you have to do that given so many non-UK apps work fine. The included Netflix workaround does work but the user experience is definitely compromised compared to the normal app so you're kind of felt left wanting. I know I could always plug in an external device like an Amazon FireStick or Apple TV to cover the gap but that kind of goes against the purpose of a smart projector where you could just get a normal, brighter projector for a lot less (although perhaps not as small) and achieve the same result.I also experienced a few problems with power and focus. As a couple of other people have mentioned, I found a few occasions that the Halo+ suddenly became completely unresponsive to remote or even physical button presses when powered on. On the first occasion, I held the physical power button down for two minutes and it just wouldn’t power off so I eventually had to let it die through battery drain. Turn off power button this is quite fundamental and it really shouldn’t be that way. With regards to focus, I also found that despite auto focusing a sharp as it would allow, after about five minutes I found that the focus was notably softening and blurring for no reason. Refocusing it fixes the problem, but the defaulted back to normal auto focus, after about five minutes, the problem comes back.I contacted XGIMI about the problem and they responded with:“if it happens during the first 30minutes of playing video, it is normal. XGIMI projectors are equipped with resin lenses to stabilize the projector imaging. Compared to glass lenses, resin lenses can effectively eliminate chromatic aberration and provide higher color reproduction, which is commonly applied in the industry. During the first 30 minutes of using the projector, the resin lens may sometimes slightly deform as the internal temperature rises, which may blur the display. Our projectors will initiate the auto-focus feature to provide you best viewing experience, and these adjustments may be noticed”Never experienced such a problem before having used projectors for years projectors for years And even one of my old supercheap ones doesn’t do this. To have this problem on a £600 plus projector giving a slight worse viewingAll in all, this is a great little projector and does so many things right. If XGIMI could get The native applications sorted out, more stability of the lens and stopping these weird problems, this would be a hard proposition to beat. If/when a future OS update fixes these or when a Halo+ Pro/4K comes out, I might come back.

Really surprised with quality.

Picture quality is amazing, even when you have uneven surfaces, or have to put it in akward place on the go. It readjust itself quite fast. tested on 100" screen and its AMAZING for the price. Bright enough to even have small table lights going and not affecting quality as bad as YT reviews show. And the sound system og my. Had a chance to test it in high ceiling room and it was close enough to cinema. Shame battery don't last entire movie, but 1.5h short film should hold no problem.

Great purchase

Great little projector, bright clear and really surprisingly good sound quality. We have the projector sitting above the bed head and it’s cinema quality picture and sound onto an 80 in screen.
