Excellent Gate for my Pool Area
TL;DR: This is an excellent gate and makes access to your pool really convenient. Installation is not trivial. If you're not handy, have a professional install it for you. Always make sure the self closing part of the gate is tight and assure that the gate closes. When we purchased our house, the safety fencing that was already installed was in great shape, but very hard to open because you had to pull a single section out of the ground every time you wanted to pass through it. It was so tightly fitting that my wife couldn't really open it without help. And when it was already open, you had to leave it open to get back through it again on your way back, which meant that for that time, our toddler had access to the pool. None of this was ideal. We needed a gate. After doing a lot of research I found this one and bit the bullet and ordered it. The price seemed high, but it is honestly a very well constructed and quality product, and I was pretty happy when it arrived. However, installation should be done by someone handy and with the tools to drill into the pool deck or flooring where your gate is. I'm pretty handy, but I called over my dad, who's very comfortable with this kind of thing, and we tackled it together. We had to cut off a section of the existing fencing in the middle where we wanted the gate installed. I drilled holes for this gate's 'posts' into our pavers. We attached those posts as instructed to the existing fencing and then put the rest of it together. The instructions are pretty good, but can be a bit confusing at parts, and the quality of the parts are excellent. One year later and this gate is still functioning great. The self latching parts of the gate will need adjustment from time to time, so keep a flat head handy to tighten it over the first month or two. There's two hinges with springs that need to be turned to adjust how quickly you want it to pull itself closed. I turned those suckers up pretty high so they would close quickly behind us and not accidentally close too softly to latch shut. I would love to find an outdoor chime that 'dings' whenever the door is opened, but haven't found one yet.IMPORTANT / SERIOUS NOTE...The most important thing for anyone installing a gate is making sure that it's full proof, and doesn't fail to latch. It needs to ALWAYS latch behind you, and you need to be sure of it closing every time. A few years back we had very good friends who lost their 2 year old son to a pool drowning. They were good people who were never neglectful of their child and kept a very close watch on him. They were proof that tragedies like this can happen to anyone. They turned their back for a few seconds and that's all it took. Please, make sure you install this gate and fencing properly and securely, and always make sure the gate latches behind you securely.UPDATE: 2 years later and this thing is still working perfectly. Couldn't be happier with it.

Replace an old gate with this new version
I had an older style gate that did not automatically latch or lock. This new gate is a huge upgrade. Insulation was pretty easy, and it came with all the hardware and decent instructions to solve it. Like the rest of the fencing, it does require that you drill into your patio, so be ready for that.Using the gate is easy once you know how to pull the latch up. It's very good proof and the lock is nice for when we leave town. I appreciate that it is adjustable, because I've had to adjust it a few times to get the angle and closing speed optimized.I use it for a full summer and it shows no sign of where. I expect a last few years with no issue.

Not great on fake turf
Great product. Fairly easy to install with the template.Very sturdy in travertine papers but not too sturdy on fake turf.Easy to remove.

Works when installed properly
Works well. I'm thankful my husband has an engineering brain because I could not figure out how to put it together with the awful instructions included. I am thankful that *most* of the holes are predrilled in the correct places. But some are non existent so make sure you have a drill on hand.If you're using with a DIY pool fence, make sure you install the gate on a light lean inward or the tension from the fence will cause it to not match up right. Once installed correctly, it works fine. Closes and latches/locks on its own which is exactly what we wanted!I do wish there was a door stop piece at the bottom to stop it from being pushed in at the bottom. No one can get through it but it would feel sturdier if this part was blocked, like baby gates have.

Is this a good gate???
Don't know if it's a good gate or not. Couldn't put it together as there are absolutely no instructions. Managed to figure out the latch by looking at the rudimentary diagrams and then looking at the photo on the package. The photo on the package was more help than the diagrams. The gate and hinges we're another story. Since they're not shown on the package I have no idea what to do. No installation instructions whatsoever. There are two bags with parts that I have no idea what they're for. One of the bags has a picture, but no explanation as to what it's for. Photo (attached) shows it on top of a hinge, but there are two hinges and only one cap. There's also other parts in the bag that I have no idea what they're for. For the price of the gate you'd think they could spring for some basic written instructions. There are instructions on adjusting the tension, but nothing on installing the gate. If I ever figure out how to install it I'll update this review. (As an FYI, I'm fairly handy and have been installing/ assembling various furniture, children's toys, swingsets etc. I work on my own cars and have a shop full of tools, so it's not like I'm some noob that's never put anything together before. I've seen some poor instructions in my 40+ years of handyman work but this takes the cake).
