Great little saw!!

Great little Chain Saw. I know it’s a little expensive but the quality and performance is top notch. I love that it has an automatic oiler it works quite well. It’s not the most powerful saw but if you don’t put excessive downward pressure on the blade and let the saw do the cutting it works fantastic!! I have cut through 5 to 6 inch limbs with no problem. Nice job Makita!!

Fanstic yard work tool

Love this little saw for my yard work! I have a properly with a lot of large trees which requires cutting up a lot of limbs, I used to use a reciprocating saw, which works, but this thing is 1000% times better. Takes a little adjustment to get the blade tight and to stay that way (popped off on me once), but once you dial it in its the one of the best tools I've ever gotten for yard work. It quiet, fast, light weight and easy to use. After using it for a bit I bought the holster:https://www.amazon.com/Makita-1913K4-9-Pruning-Holster-XCU14/dp/B0CMTQ2CFN?ref_=ast_sto_dpwith this extra accessory it became even more useful. I love this setup for yard work. Makes my life so much easier.

Excellent. I hope all have the same experience as me.

Excellent. Used it only a couple hours. Made quick work of cutting limbs from 1-5”. Just need to watch the chain to keep it tight as it seemed to get loose a couple times depending on the cut and pressure on the chain. Was really happy that I purchased it. I have a lot of fallen trees and branches that need cleared.

Best 6 inch bar chainsaw

Great addition to my Makita tools. Lightweight and plenty powerful. It also comes with a bar cover, bar oil, and file with file guide.

More Makita to the collection!

I am heavily invested in Makita tools, and bought this one for my wife. She likes cutting small overgrowth branches around our property and the full size chainsaws are too much for her. She loves this, but usage has shown its not fool-proof. The chain has a tendency to snag on small branches, and the motor does not have very much torque. This leads to the chainsaw auto-stopping the motor, requiring complete re-engagement of the safety lever and trigger to get it to run again. This can also cause the chain to stay snagged on the branch, and becomes a fight to get it free.I don't regret the purchase, but I was expecting more from the motor.

Great small hand saw.

Love this little saw. Very aggressive and cute through 5 inch round braches. Good for tight spots. The chain can be finicky and will come off blade. Not the easiest to put back on.

Great balance, surprisingly effective

I bought this for light pruning when climbing trees when I don't need to carry my larger chainsaws. this saw fills a good niche between my hand saw and hand pruners, and my smaller chainsaws. It also allows me to easily cut branches when it is difficult to find a good position for my hand saw.The saw feels very well balanced for using single-handed. As with most Makita tools it is nicely finished and feels like good quality.I thought the blade guard on the top would be a hindrance, but I haven't found that to be the case. I can still cut with the top of the blade, either by lifting the guard before starting the cut, or pressing the guard against the branch to be cut to get the guard out of the way. The saw definitely feels safer than I imagine it would without a blade guard! And it is nice to have at least part of the chain guarded from rubbing against me when the saw is hanging from my climbing saddle. There is no bar adjustment screw as on most chainsaws. Instead it is under spring tension. It remains to be seen how that holds up.I have used the saw to cut 4 inch (live) Coast Live Oak branches and it does so easily. It isn't a speed demon, and if you push it will stall. But I was expecting that would be the case. It gets through the wood decently fast without trying to force it. For light pruning while climbing around in tree canopies I would much rather carry this small lighter chainsaw than get a little more speed. The saw does not have a variable speed trigger. Though I would prefer that, it performs quite well without it.I am very happy with this saw!

What's most important to know

I have used this for an hour or so to cut down small tree shoots and branches up to about 3 to 4 inches in diameter. So far it has been really easy to use and quick to cut through the wood. I think it will be a good addition to my power tool collection.
