Very well built platform - make sure you have the space needed to use it.
This is a major piece of kit and far better built than I expected. One key thing to note is that it is wide so you should check that it fits the work area you have in mind. It just about fits my needs, but as it blocks the stairs, I have attached some rope to it so that I can pull it up when I'm finished. It is also worth noting that the manufacturer also has its Hailo 9850-101 TP Plus 2 in 1 Stair and Work Platform. I purchased the version that I did as there was a major difference in price between the 2 products at the time. It is worth checking to see what the current difference is.

Perfect!!
I bought this for painting my stair well and the board is perfect. it’s very strong and excellent quality. It’s slightly narrower than the actual stairs a long enough to give you a good working surface for a ladder. The adjustment in the legs and extenders will cover every possibility so it’s perfect for the job

Made Stripping and Painting a 2 Curve 4m tall Hallway Possible
The platform arrived assembled and was very easy to set up. I did have to be flexible as to how to position it as the extending legs weren't always quite long enough for me to put it exactly where I wanted to, sometimes it wasn't possible to have it at anything but a slight slope (note to manufacturer - the extending legs need to be 10cm longer). However, it definitely did make the bane of my life - 4m high 2 curve textured plaster coated stairway strippable and paintable. The person who did that originally didn't get any kindly thoughts lol. (Use white vinegar in the water when stripping it, firm stripping knife and a good steamer - no need for expensive removal solutions).I thought I'd feel unsafe, particularly when I had to extend the ladder but I didn't, it was a very stable platform, you could lock it into place very easily. The ridges on the platform enable you to lodge a ladder (make sure the ladder base isn't too wide but I still managed even though mine were).Well worth the extra money.

Great concept but might not right for you.
Overall the TP1 is a great concept, and should make tackling those awkward narrow and right angles staircases a lot more easily than a regular combination ladder. However, the adjustments are simply not enough. The feet don’t extend enough, and/or the platform is too long to safely use the extendable legs on their shortest setting. In my case to level the platform across the staircase I would need to extend the feet (height) by another 5 cm. If I shorten the platform so that it bridges one less step, then the feet height is fine, but they end up right on the edge of the step which is unsafe. Clearly this is an issue they didn’t consider, which is why they have the TP2, which is currently not available. But even that may not have enough adjustments for everybody.Overall, double check the dimensions of your steps, if the platform caters for it then it should be a great option, otherwise, not. Also, the platform feels ok, but I feel as though it could be sturdier. If it was extendable enough, It would be a 4/5 star, as it’s not I’ve given it a 3 star.

Service
What an amazing solid product. Bought this to decorate the stairs (obviously), very impressed with the quality of it. Absolutely solid with me plus ladders on it. Folds away neatly for storage with the ladders and easy to use. But for me, I kept missing the delivery due to work but thr seller and delivery company (DPD) were absolutely amazing at getting me the product on time. Couldn't thank thank both enough for the effort and communication.

Fantastic Device
I have a horrible very tall narrow stairwell and have been putting off painting it for years.I recently had the walls skimmed and the plasterer had to put planks across a bunch of ladders in some convoluted way which in my mind looked too dangerous for me to attempt - I'm not sure he was that pleased - and I'm not a big fan of heights at the best of times.Anyway, given that I was not prepared to do this and too cheap to get a painter in, I found this device and did some research (well a bit of googling) and took the plunge and purchased.I've now painted the ceiling and first coat on the walls and it has been fantastic. It is a well built and well thought through device, very simple to use and extremely sturdy. The main point is that it gives you a lot of confidence when using it. The spirit level is also a nice touch. What is strange is that the manual only points to using the platform with no more than a 4 rung ladder. I can't fathom this out as the overall maximum weight it can take is 300lbs and even though I'm a bit lardy, the weight of the ladders and me are nowhere near 300lbs. I can only assume that it was a request by the company's legal department or maybe I have got it completely wrong. There are couple of things you need to be careful about before purchasing a) that your stairs can take the width of the platform (75cm) and b) the ladders you are intending to use are not too big. On point b), the ladders I used have a stabiliser bar which is 80cm which fits fine - the platform is 90cm.All in all - I'm very pleased with the purchase.PS - I've added a picture with the ladder I used - this is the only picture my son took as he chuckled to himself while reading the house insurance policy but alas it wasn't required.
