2nd & 3rd sets ordered
I had been gifted 2 Sistema containers and loved them, so I ordered 2 sets of these. LOVE these too. They seal well, are easy to open/close, and well designed to allow a smaller hand to grip. If you have arthritis, these will be easier to open than some other storage containers. I have the standard red-lid Rubbermaid food containers, which are difficult for my mother to open with her arthritis. The Sistema containers, however, are not difficult for her.I love that the larger containers come with a measuring cup to keep in the container and the smaller containers have pouring openings. These containers also makes it easier to fill in the bulk sections of the store or co-ops. These are dishwasher safe in the top rack, but you may need to hand wash the larger containers if your top rack is too short. Finally, I really like that the containers have an off-white lid and not a crazy color unlike so many of the other containers available. It's true that the flour container will not hold a complete American 5lb bag, but it holds about 4 lbs. I'm fine with that and just store the last pound in its package until I can add it to the container. Its definitely not something to get all wrapped-around-the-axel-about as other reviewers have. I believe these are made in New Zealand, so they probably have different standards there.A few years ago, King Arthur Flour used to carry these too, which is where I first found them.

Love these! Fits 5 lbs of flour if you keep it in the bag.
Just bought my 3rd Sistema 13.7 cup (3.25 liter) to store flour. My way of easily getting 5 lbs of flour into the container is by keeping the flour in the bag. If you buy in bulk, it’s less helpful. As others said, in that case you’ll need to tamp the flour down to fit more.— Take the *unopened* bag of flour and lay it on its side.— Press the side to form a ridge where the indented handle is.— Slide the bag into the container.— Open the bag.Works perfectly with King Arthur bags. Bob’s Red Mill is a bit of a struggle but it works. It’s easier to scoop out flour than it is to pour, so keeping it in the bag doesn’t affect the functionality for me. I also don’t need to label the container. I empty the opened bag that’s in the container before adding another.Pouring from the bag into the container introduces air and increases the size of the pile of flour. That’s why bakers weigh flour instead of measuring by volume in a measuring cup. Volume is unreliable.I love that you can grab these easily thanks to the molded grip. They are plenty airtight for me, but I do live in a dry climate. The scoop is nice but doesn’t fit until you’ve used some of the flour.I’m so happy with these that I’ve ordered the 10 cup size for sugar.

I wish they still made these!
The largest size is perfectly for the 15-quart packages of dry milk I buy. The next size down holds a five-pound bag of flour, still in the bag so you can see what kind of flour it is. Haven't yet found a use for the other sizes.

Just about perfect in every way.
I have a set of clip-lid containers which were great, until the clips began breaking off the lids -- when this container arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the clips aren't attached to the lid, but are an actual hinge mechanism, attaching to the body of the container. I don't see any potential point of failure with this design, as there's no repeated bending/weakening as was with the other kind.I was looking for a container to hold the Idahoan Real Mashed Potatoes, Gable Carton, Premium, 52 Ounce I often buy. The package is just a huge cardboard milk carton, so I wanted something to keep everything fresh. I spent quite a bit of time searching for a container that would be the right size, and it turns out this container for flour is as though custom made. A freshly opened carton fits completely inside, and a measuring cup will wiggle in snugly too. Perfect. And this even comes with a nice little measuring cup, that is perfectly sized to fit even into the narrower side of the container that is used as the handle -- the container is tapered on one side, and even with my small hands it is easy to handle, even when full.Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase -- so much so that I've just put the whole 9-piece set (Sistema Klip It Shrinkwrapped Bakery Set) in my Save for Later cart, and look forward to buying it once the holidays settle down. If simple, functional, and well made is something that appeals to you, I don't believe you'll be disappointed in this product -- it's great. :O)
